Good Reviews Make Us Happy

Today, RV Parks are often called the “last small towns of America” and there are thousands all across America. For some, it’s simply home. For others, it’s a temporary home along the road less traveled. RVers enjoy a sense of community, a common bond, with like-minded fellow RVers at all ages and stages of life. For these hearty, adventurous folks and families, finding an RV park that is safe, friendly, conveniently located, and accommodating is an “activity.”

good ReviewsSome websites offer RVers a chance to review or rate the parks. RV Park Reviews (March 2017) gave Floridays 4 Stars. The reviewer referred to Floridays as a “no-frills park with an onsite manager that is as helpful and friendly as are the residents.”

We often hear high praises from our guests about George, and they are well-deserved. And the mention of our friendly residents is music to our ears. Yes, there’s no stand-alone recreation hall, but a large room off the manager’s office is home to some pretty lively bingo games and the firepit gets quite a workout during season with cookouts, cold beer, and live music.

Floridays is located in Hobe Sound, a small “old Florida” town built along the historic Florida East Coast Railway built in the late 19th century by Henry Morrison Flagler, a Standard Oil magnate. Flagler saw the potential of tourism along the east coast of Florida and built the railway to turn his vision into reality. Nowadays, the entire eastern seaboard is crowded and overbuilt—except for Martin County, and especially Hobe Sound. This bit of history explains why the reviewer noted the long trains that rumble through our town. Hardly noticeable by day, It can be noisy at night, but it can also be a comforting reminder of small town America and days gone by. As our trees and other new landscaping plants continue to grow, the trains become less noticeable.

It’s an honest review, and we invite you to read it. We’re happy it mentions our squeaky clean, brand new humongous laundry and shower building (we call it the wash house) that now is fully functional with good water pressure. Our wifi is excellent, and our weather pleasant, even in summer.

Floridays RV Park Renovation

renovation 2016

Autumn 2016 renovation

Floridays RV Park has been “under renovation” since it was purchased by the current owners six years ago this month. Improvements have been steady, subtle, and quiet, so when a CAT showed up to demolish the old bathrooms and laundry facilities, everyone noticed. View the video on Facebook »

Rather than renovate an old building, we decided to rebuild from the ground up! The new facility will provide 6 new washers and dryers along with spacious folding tables and plenty of room to maneuver. The adjoining shower and restroom areas will be spacious without sacrificing personal privacy. Disclaimer: the original architectural drawing shown is not the final drawing and is shared only to give readers an idea of the size and scope of the project.

So after six years, the local Hobe Sound eyesore known as Angle Inn Mobile Court is but a fading memory, replaced with an ever-improving RV park that, thanks to our loyal returning visitors, full timers, and welcome newcomers, is developing a solid reputation as a clean, safe, friendly, affordable place to enjoy the Old Florida lifestyle. Our park manager, George, welcomes your suggestions or ideas for park improvement.

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you are reading this blog prior to reserving a space between October 2016 and January 2017, please check our Reservations or Amenities pages for regular updates to the status of the renovations. We don’t want anyone to be disappointed.

What Makes Floridays Great

There are as many reasons RV owners choose any particular RV park as there are reasons to choose the lifestyle itself. We thought we’d share a few of the reasons you might want to choose Floridays RV Park on your next trip to south Florida.
What makes an RV Park great?

  1. Location: Floridays is located along the historic Highway 1 that rambles along the eastern seacoast of south central Florida. Just like Route 66 that helped settle the west, Highway 1 brought the early snowbirds to south Florida. Nowadays, I-95 carries the traffic. Just past the congestion of the Palm Beaches, southbound RVers note how traffic thins a bit before mile marker 96. This is the Hobe Sound exit. A short drive east on State Road 708 connects to Highway 1 (locally called Federal Highway). There are no high-rises, crowded malls, or congestion here—just homey restaurants, a beautiful uncrowded beach, and thousands of acres of untouched nature preserves. Easy to find, easy to call home.
  2. Park Layout: Floridays has 84 generously-spaced sites with driver-side utility hookups, gravel interior access roads, and angle-in pads that can accommodate side rooms. Site lengths vary to accommodate different sized RVs and all have concrete patios. Our full-timers are assigned back-in sites, and overnighters or short-termers can request pull-throughs. We’re an old park under new management as of 2010, so we’re becoming a “new park,” one project at a time. We move slowly, because that’s what we do in Hobe Sound, and because we don’t want to disturb the lifestyle of our guests who choose us because we’re a quiet, safe, and friendly place to stay.
  3. Landscaping: Since 2010, hundreds of new plants have been planted and it’s beginning to make a huge difference in the park. New trees, shrubs and grasses are being used to create a park-like natural setting that closely matches Mother Nature’s ideas for this part of south Florida. Plantings give guests a sense of privacy and a measure of separation without blocking visual access between sites.
  4. Amenities: We have both 30- and 50-amp service and free Wi-Fi, and we don’t discriminate between fancy diesels and towables—love them both. The laundry and shower rooms are undergoing a major rebuild. Guests will enjoy 12 brand new sparkling washers and dryers and huge bath/shower facilities for men and women in late 2016. There are BBQs, bingo, and ping-pong tournaments. Potlucks and pizza nights. Spontaneous guitar strumming and organized open-mic nights.

Floridays Dreaming–Big 2016 RV Show

We recently returned from the big RV show in Tampa. Good news was everywhere. Show attendance was up 3% over last year, and the number of new RV units is expected to reach over 375,000 in 2016. In fact, according the the FRVTA, the forecast doubles the industry’s 2009 recession low. The good news for us is that more companies are bringing more products and innovation to the RV market. The new models are chock-full of good stuff and great ideas. Here’s a small glimpse for the dreamers at Floridays…

We couldn’t bring the show home with us, but we were able to locate an inside tour of the 2016 Airstream International Serenity 30W travel trailer. Try not to drool on your keyboard.

If you prefer traditional luxury and more space, take a tour of the 2016 Itasca Ellipse 42HD Class A Luxury Diesel Motorhome.

At the end of the day, our favorite RVs are the ones occupying the spaces at Floridays RV Park right here in Hobe Sound.
