Let’s Go to the Show!

The Tampa Florida RV SuperShow celebrates 34 years of being one of the best RV shows in the country. Last year, over 73,000 attended. The show runs for 6 days beginning on January 15, 2019, at the Florida State Fairground in Tampa. While the first day of the show is reserved for RV businesses and companies only, the public can enjoy everything the show offers for five full days beginning on January 16.

Brought to you by the Florida RV Trade Association, this show attracts more than 450 vendors in the RV trade. Visitors can stroll through two huge exhibit halls full of parts and accessories and towing supplies or pick up tons of literature and information about campgrounds, RV resorts, and tourism to plan your on-the-road adventures in the coming months or years. Whether you are just dreaming about a spanking new RV, or are in the market for an upgrade to the latest in RV manufacturing and accessories, there will be everything from small travel trailers to bus conversion luxury motorhomes.

Music Lovers

Now and through December 11th, enjoy live Blues, Rock, and R&B at the Notes Music Room & Wine Bar offers special deals on beer and wine on Tuesday with hot sandwiches, cheese plates and snacks from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m.; 872 S. Colorado in Stuart. More information »

Happy Shoppers

On November 18, visit the Stuart Green Market where you’ll find fresh ideas for Christmas giving, and some tasty treats along the way. After the market, head over to the Rock’n Riverwalk free concert from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., then later in the evening, take a stroll through historic downtown Stuart and visit the great shops and restaurants that make up this quaint downtown. Foodies

Another 3rd Saturday Gourmet is November 17 from 5 to 9 p.m. in downtown Hobe Sound. This fun, family, pet-friendly event features about 15 different vendors including unique food trucks from all over south Florida and local crafters. 3rd Saturdays continue in Hobe Sound monthly through May. Event is sponsored by the Hobe Sound Chamber of Commerce.

Christmas Elves

If you like getting into the holiday mood early, Christmas on Main Street has music by the Celebration Singers, a performance by the Martin County Tigerettes, and tree lighting festivities in downtown Stuart on November 23 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the City Hall Annex and Riverwalk Stage, 300 SW St. Lucie Ave. Event information »

Parade Watchers

Mark your calendar (Saturday, December 1, 1:00 p.m.) for this must-see annual event—the Hobe Sound Christmas Parade! For 33 years, our hometown has paraded out floats, vintage cars, bands, marchers, trucks, and especially Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus. The music and magic of our small town is on display as hundred of townies and visitors line the streets and local shops and restaurants will be open. Parade information »

Hobe Sound Incorporation Debate

On August 28, voters in Hobe Sound, the hometown of Floridays RV Park, will decide whether or not to incorporate as an official town. The debate seems to be about different visions for how to move into the future while retaining the unique character of Hobe Sound. For those in our Park that are permanent residents, or just anyone interested in the potential outcome, the following is a little background and a few resources.

Hobe Sound is one of the last truly small towns along the eastern coastline of south Florida. It has a small population of about 15,300 people. People live in Hobe Sound because they enjoy the small town feeling, lack of traffic, low crime, and an “Old Florida” feel. Read about the history of Hobe Sound here.

Floridays MapCurrently, Hobe Sound is not officially a town at all—it’s a community governed by Martin County. Even if Hobe Sound incorporates, most of its services would still be provided by the County, including fire & rescue, law enforcement, and other important services.

In 2017, a few long-time residents and business owners in Hobe Sound became concerned that Hobe Sound could become overdeveloped or lose it’s historic small town environment. They paid, with their own money, to have a Feasibility Report drawn up. You can read it here.

There have been numerous meetings to debate the plan and answer residents’ questions. If you live in Hobe Sound but never attended a meeting, you can learn more and watch a video about protecting Hobe Sound on their website.

Regardless of the voting outcome, Floridays is committed to remain a “little bit of paradise” with friendly neighbors and a laid-back way of life for those who enjoy the RV Lifestyle.

How RVers Deal With Noisy Neighbors

If there is one single fear that all RVers have, it’s choosing or being assigned a pad or parking space next the RV with a barking dog or a family that keeps the TV volume to a pitch resembling that of a jet plane. While these annoyances are more prevalent at campgrounds than in RV parks, the problem of the consistently inconsiderate, whiner, shouter, curser or partier that cares less about being a good neighbor is real, and it’s annoying.

Confronting an excessively noisy neighbor is not the solution. Moving is an option, but not always possible, and it doesn’t solve the problem, it just hands it off the next RVer taking your vacated spot.

rules & regs 2018The communal aspect of RV camping and travel is usually one of respect. You want peace and quiet in the neighborhood, and so does everyone else. Most RV parks and campgrounds have basic quiet hours from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Rules aren’t always knowingly broken. The guy with the noisy diesel truck may have no clue that neighbors are irritated with his comings and goings. The woman with the high-shrilling laugh may have never been told how annoying it is.

As our guest, you must also follow certain rules to protect the park and it’s natural environment and to assure everyone’s safety and security. As the times and the trends change, we update our rules. We strive to be fair—to see things from our guests’ perspective. When new RV products hit the market, like fresh ideas for screened rooms, we may amend our rules to accommodate.

We’re fortunate to be located in one of the last true Old Florida towns: small, friendly, and quiet. Our sensible park rules are us, doing our part.

High Season At Floridays

Each December, the adventurous pack their bags, load up the RV, and wave goodbye to winter. The two most-visited destinations in the U.S. are Arizona and Florida. Snowbirds want two things: sunshine and budget-friendly winter RV parks. So it’s no surprise that Floridays RV Park fills up fast and has a long waiting list. For those that choose Floridays for their South Florida winter months, we have plenty of activities and amenities to make your stay enjoyable.

Amenities

laundryRoomEarly this year we held the Grand Opening of our brand spanking new washroom with separate air-conditioned men’s and women’s showers and bathrooms in the front of the building, and a generous number of new washers and dryers in the rear of the building. The laundry section is well-ventilated and has plenty of sorting and folding tables. To be sure that the washroom sparkles, a full-time resident, Patti Owen, keeps it spic ’n span daily.

old-new MailroomOther park improvements this summer included a new mailroom and lots of new plants and grass. The new stand-alone mailroom means that guests can collect their mail from a central point away from office traffic and out of the rain. New plantings add more green space, cool and clean the air, and help create a more park-like setting.

propane fenceWe’ve also brought back Propane Rentals for park guests. No more trips to the store when making last-minute BBQ plans! The tanks sit by our new boatyard fence that connects to the park office that is also going through renovations with a new roof and remodeled office.

Activities

This season our guests will enjoy “bring your own mug” Coffee Club from 7:00 – 9:00 a.m. Monday through Friday on the screened-in porch. Floridays’ event coordinator, Fran, is always dreaming up fun ways to make meet-ups in the Community Room a great way to spend time with old friends and make new ones here in Martin County.

Guests can look forward to a full schedule of activities from Bingo (90% of the proceeds go to prizes) to Open Mic Saturdays, and an occasional gig with a local band. Christmas and New Year’s Eve parties, NASCAR and Daytona 500 parties, and our annual St. Patrick’s Party will keep all our guests with full calendars for the season.

George, the resident park manager, will once again be making memories as he takes park guests on excursions up and down South Florida’s Intracoastal Waterway. And this season will be bigger and better than ever—George has a new 35-foot all aluminum beauty!
